Federal HPC Linux System Administrator, Clearance TS SCI with Poly, On-Site, Maryland

Job Description:

HPE is seeking a passionate and skilled Linux Systems Administrator to provide system management, daily monitoring, and optimization. You will provide technical leadership and execution, supporting HPE's mission-critical customers through pre-installation configuration, on-site integration, administration, and customer enablement of HPE's computing solutions.

Requirements:
  • TS/SCI with Poly clearance REQUIRED
  • US citizenship is required
  • Location: Onsite Full-Time, Annapolis Junction, Maryland
  • This role requires in-person attendance at non-HPE worksites with COVID-19 vaccination and/or testing requirements. Applicants must be ready to comply by their HPE start date.
Responsibilities:
  • Work as an active member of the HPE account team, interacting with the Service Delivery Manager, Sales, the customer, and site staff.
  • Answer customer inquiries concerning system software versions, product lifecycles, new releases, and third-party applications.
  • Maintain Linux system availability, create and document site procedures, system diagrams, and support documents.
  • Maintain system software and firmware revisions, including patches, updates, and OS upgrades.
  • Solve system hardware, software, and third-party software issues, providing detailed analysis and solutions.
  • Gather data, perform analysis, and escalate problems to support groups when necessary.
  • Implement solutions, repairs, and workarounds, documenting steps taken.
  • Share troubleshooting techniques, new ideas, and utilities to develop organizational knowledge.
  • Manage software issues for systems and applications, submitting and tracking bugs as required.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Linux OS (RHEL or SLES), workload management, parallel file systems, networking, security.
  • Technical skills for investigating and resolving complex problems.
  • Proficiency with programming and scripting languages (Perl, Python, C, etc.) preferred.
  • Ability to maintain system software, perform debugging, builds, upgrades, and patches.
  • Organizational and analytical skills for troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Ability to document processes clearly, with a focus on mentoring and knowledge sharing.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years' HPC-related experience, especially with large-scale HPC and parallel file systems.
  • Clearance: TS SCI with Poly.
