Qualifications

• Law Degree (J.D.) is required.
• Licensed by a state bar.
• Valid United States driver’s license and dependable vehicle.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize law library resources and online research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis, CourtLink).
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Oversees USAO’s habeas corpus matters including receiving and docketing motions, calendaring due dates, coordinating with AUSA/Support Staff, drafting responses for review, and timely filing of responses.
• Analyzes statutes, judicial precedents, agency rules, and related materials for assigned cases, including complex or unprecedented issues.
• Briefs attorneys on pertinent facts, issues and case law.
• Drafts legal documents for signature and drafts proposed orders for judges and magistrates.
• Collaborates with AUSAs and supervising attorneys to determine applicable standards and strongest arguments.
