Job summary

New York City Department of Transportation is seeking a Traffic Operations Grants Specialist to lead coordination of federal grants supporting the Traffic Management Center and related initiatives. The role reports to the Deputy Director of Traffic Operations Finance and requires navigating federal/state grant rules, proposals, and reimbursements.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, and one year of satisfactory full-time professional experience in budget or financial administration or related areas.
• Bachelor's degree and three years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in the described areas.
• Associate degree or 60 credits and five years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in the described areas.
• Four-year high school diploma or equivalent and seven years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in the described areas.
• Combination of education and/or experience as described; college credits substitutions allowed with a high school diploma and at least one year of described experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead coordination for all federal grants for Traffic Operations, including discretionary and formula grants.
• Facilitate submission of grant applications, management of grant awards, and reimbursement of funds.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state rules governing aid to the City.
• Serve as the agency's subject matter expert on federally funded technologies used to manage transportation systems.
• Support Traffic Management Center operations through grant-funded activities.
