Job summary

New York City Department of Transportation is seeking a Contract Specialist to manage a portfolio of construction and operate-and-maintain contracts. You will coordinate with technical leads, oversee procurement readiness, and ensure timely invoicing and approvals.

The role requires strong organization, detail orientation, and the ability to drive work to completion across internal partners and vendors. A residency in NYC is expected for new hires.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting procurement and contract actions in a large organization.
• Ability to manage multiple contract actions in a high-volume environment.
• Strong budgeting and forecasting skills, with attention to balances and risks.
• Excellent written communication for summaries, status updates, and approval packages.

Responsibilities

• Own a portfolio of construction and operate-and-maintain contracts from planning through closeout.
• Coordinate with technical leads to define scopes, deliverables, and acceptance requirements so procurements are ready to launch.
• Build and manage procurement and contract-action schedules to prevent gaps in contractor coverage.
• Drive invoice review and payment processing by validating backup, routing approvals, and resolving discrepancies.
• Prepare and track change orders and amendments by coordinating cost and schedule impacts.
