Job summary

Takeda is seeking an Associate Director, Federal Government Affairs (FGA) to shape policy engagement in Washington, D.C. You will lead strategic initiatives, build networks with lawmakers, and align advocacy with Takeda’s business objectives in a complex federal landscape.

You will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, monitor legislative developments, and provide policy insights to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 7+ years’ experience in advocacy or policy field.
  • Strong networking skills and understanding of stakeholder dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and implementation of strategies to influence Congress, the White House, and related agencies.
  • Build professional networks with elected leaders and stakeholders to promote access to innovative bio-pharmaceuticals and Takeda’s presence.
  • Collaborate on external meetings and advocacy efforts to strengthen Takeda’s federal relationships.
  • Provide input into lobbying efforts with Members of Congress and executive agencies, including executive engagement.
  • Identify risks and opportunities for Takeda’s commercial, clinical, and operational practices, with cross-functional teams.
  • Provide insights on federal legislative, executive, and regulatory activities to support leadership decisions.
  • Monitor legislative opportunities aligned with business goals and recommend advocacy strategies.
  • Represent Takeda in PhRMA work groups and trade associations to advance objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (State Government Affairs, Public Policy & Reimbursement, Operations) for alignment.
  • Manage external consultants under senior leadership direction.
  • Enhance Takeda’s visibility in Washington, D.C., supporting branding and policy advocacy.
