Job summary

Lundbeck is seeking an Associate Director, Government Affairs to help shape the federal policy strategy and advance patient access. You will lead relationships with Congress, agencies, and industry groups while coordinating cross-functional advocacy initiatives across the enterprise.

The role emphasizes strategic policy insights, regulatory trend analysis, and collaboration with teams such as Legal, Compliance, Medical Affairs, and Communications to align policy objectives with business goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in government affairs, public policy, legislative affairs, healthcare policy, or advocacy within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, government, trade association, or related sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships with and influencing federal policymakers, Congressional offices, federal agencies, trade associations, patient and provider organizations, and other key stakeholders to advance public policy objectives.
  • Experience analyzing legislative and regulatory developments, assessing business impact, and developing strategic advocacy recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge of the federal legislative process, healthcare policy, and the pharmaceutical regulatory environment.
  • Strategic thinker with sound political judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develops federal advocacy initiatives by building relationships with Members of Congress, staff, federal agencies, and other key policymakers.
  • Partners in developing and executing executive engagement strategies to strengthen external relationships and advance advocacy priorities.
  • Maintains strategic relationships with patient advocacy organizations, professional societies, trade associations, and coalition partners to identify collaboration opportunities.
  • Monitors federal legislative and regulatory developments, assesses potential business impact, and provides timely policy intelligence and strategic recommendations.
  • Contributes to annual government affairs planning by identifying emerging policy risks, legislative opportunities, and advocacy priorities.
  • Collaborates with Patient Advocacy, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, Communications, Commercial, and other teams to align external engagement activities.
  • Represents Lundbeck in industry associations, coalitions, and forums, contributing to policy discussions and advocacy positions.
  • Manages external lobbying consultants and political advisors, ensuring alignment with strategy and objectives.
  • Represents Lundbeck at congressional meetings and external forums to strengthen visibility and relationships.
