Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Federal Financial Management Consultant to help manage workstreams and directly contribute to financial reporting deliverables, balancing technical quality with client-facing execution.

You will coordinate with client finance, accounting, budget, and program stakeholders to resolve data issues, document decisions, and produce clear workpapers. This role requires strong Excel/PowerPoint skills and federal reporting knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, public administration, or related discipline.
• Minimum five years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, audit readiness, financial management consulting, or closely related field.
• Experience supporting federal agencies, government contractors, or public-sector financial management environments.
• Working knowledge of federal financial reporting and federal budgetary reporting concepts, reconciliations, internal controls, and year-end close activities.
• Prior consulting experience with federal CFO organizations, financial statement audit support, Treasury reporting, GTAS, DATA Act, or OMB A-136 reporting activities.
• Ability to analyze complex data, identify root causes, and translate technical findings into concise client-facing recommendations.
• Strong proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint; experience using financial systems or business intelligence tools is beneficial.
• Must be US Citizen and must be able to obtain MBI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support preparation, review, and analysis of federal financial statements, notes, reconciliations, and management reporting packages.
• Assess reporting processes, identify control gaps, and recommend practical improvements that support audit readiness and compliance.
• Apply federal financial management concepts, including U.S. Standard General Ledger, Treasury reporting, OMB reporting guidance, and applicable accounting standards.
• Coordinate with client finance, accounting, budget, and program stakeholders to resolve data issues and document decisions.
• Develop clear workpapers, issue logs, status updates, and executive-ready materials that explain findings and recommended actions.
• Coach analysts or consultants on workstream tasks, quality expectations, and client communication norms.
• Support proposal, account planning, or capability-building efforts related to federal financial management when needed.
