Job summary

Kansas Department of Health and Environment seeks an Environmental Specialist for the Federal Facilities Unit. The role manages environmental remediation projects involving federal sites and Formerly Used Defense Sites, reviewing reports and coordinating with agencies to ensure compliance with regulations.

The position requires a bachelor's degree in environmental or related fields and at least three years of field experience; SB 166 allows substitutions by experience or education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, agricultural or natural sciences/resources and three years of experience in the field.
• Proofreading, editing, attention to detail and ability to manage data and projects.

Responsibilities

• Reviews groundwater, soil, sediment and surface water sampling programs to ensure QA/QC compliance.
• Performs site visits for oversight of inspections and remediation activities.
• Coordinates project management across agencies and communicates progress to supervisors.
