Job summary

The United States Attorneys' Offices in Kansas seeks an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division to represent the United States in federal district and appellate courts across Kansas City, Topeka, or Wichita. Responsibilities include leading cases from investigation through charging, pretrial, trial, sentencing, and appeal, in areas such as drug trafficking, violent crime, firearms, immigration, and economic offenses.

You must have a J.D.

Qualifications

J.D. degree and active bar admission in any U.S. jurisdiction.
At least 1 year post-J.D. legal or relevant experience.
U.S. citizenship required.
Active Kansas bar membership at appointment required.
Preferred: felony jury trial experience.
Must reside in the district or within 25 miles.
Selective Service registration if applicable.

Responsibilities

Represent the United States in federal courts and the Tenth Circuit in criminal cases.
Prosecute drug trafficking, organized crime, violent crime, firearms, immigration, and economic offenses.
Lead cases from investigation through charging, pretrial, trial, sentencing and appeal.
Collaborate with federal, state, and local investigators to disrupt serious criminal threats.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex with experience.
