Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead Federal projects from planning through closeout. You will oversee contractors, ensure safety, quality, and compliance, and serve as the primary liaison with the federal client and stakeholders.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree, 8 years of relevant experience, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to travel. You will mentor junior staff and maintain thorough project documentation to support successful delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent; 8 years of relevant Federal construction experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a federal background check.
• Travel may be domestic or international as duties require.
• Experience with large Federal construction projects preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and manage all phases of Federal construction projects to ensure scope, budget, and schedule compliance.
• Oversee contractors and on-site personnel to maintain quality, safety, and contractual compliance.
• Act as primary liaison between the federal client’s construction branch, stakeholders, and contractors.
• Review and evaluate construction documents for FAR, design standards, and applicable codes.
• Lead pre-construction conferences, progress meetings, on-site inspections, and punch list management.
• Ensure activities meet federal safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Track performance metrics, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions.
• Mentor and train junior staff and promote best practices.
• Prepare comprehensive project documentation for submission to federal agencies.
• Promote a culture of safety across all project sites (OSHA, USACE).
• Travel as required by project needs.
