Job summary

ASM Research, an Accenture Federal Services company, seeks a Backup and Recovery Specialist to design and optimize enterprise backup architectures across on‑prem and cloud environments. The role requires 4–7 years in backup/recovery, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and an Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain it.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4–7 years of data backup and recovery or related IT infra experience.
• Proficient understanding of backup/recovery principles for physical, virtual, and cloud workloads.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise backup tools such as Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, CommVault, or similar.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to resolve complex backup issues.
• Experience using monitoring tools and documenting backup configurations and procedures.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain it; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain backup solutions for physical, virtual, and cloud workloads, including policy design and capacity planning.
• Analyze backup infrastructure performance and tune concurrency, bandwidth, and storage tiers for RTO/RPO targets.
• Perform restore operations such as point-in-time recovery and disaster recovery exercises.
• Implement and maintain backup encryption, key management, and RBAC for data protection.
• Document and test disaster recovery runbooks and coordinate drills with ops and apps teams.
• Integrate backup systems with monitoring/reporting solutions for dashboards and compliance metrics.
• Troubleshoot backup job failures and bottlenecks; conduct root-cause analysis.
• Mentor junior staff on data protection practices and documentation.
