Job summary

WIRED seeks a Features Editor in New York to guide ambitious longform storytelling and edit pieces for print and digital platforms. The role collaborates with staff writers and freelancers, shaping ideas and ensuring vivid, accurate narratives across WIRED’s audience.

The editor will oversee multiple packages annually, recruit freelance writers, and work with art, production, research, copy editing and social teams to deliver high‑quality stories with clear feedback and editorial vision.

Qualifications

• Five years of newsroom or magazine editing experience.
• Ability to turn feature manuscripts into national‑level articles.
• Excellent skills in structuring narratives and line editing.
• Collaborative with editors, copy editors, designers, and producers.
• Strong headline, subhead, caption and story‑building skills.

Responsibilities

• Conceive feature stories and evaluate pitches from writers.
• Assign, track, and edit stories across print and online.
• Oversee at least two packages per year, print and online.
• Recruit freelance feature writers and guide staffers’ work.
• Participate in brainstorms and refine ideas with editors.
• Collaborate with art, production, research, copy editing and social teams
