Job summary

The University of Houston System seeks an experienced editor/writer for the Constituent Engagement department. The role develops, writes, and edits materials for university publications, disseminating information about research, academics, activities, events and awards.

You will plan thematic issues, supervise in-house and freelance writers, and coordinate with designers and photographers to shape communications for targeted audiences.

Qualifications

• Requires a 4-year degree or equivalent training.
• Minimum of three years of directly job-related experience.
• Education may be substituted for experience or vice versa.
• All positions at UH System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.

Responsibilities

• Creates and plans thematic issues of university features magazine.
• Assigns, directs and edits in-house and freelance magazine feature articles.
• Conceives, researches and writes feature articles for a university feature magazine.
• Consults with designers and photographers on design, execution and production of magazine and distribution.
• Maintains contact with university and college administrators regarding programs and with college faculty about research and teaching.
• Consults with administrators and faculty on statements and communications.
• Research university programs for story ideas and audience targeting.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
