Job Description

Title: Cheerleading Coach Primary Supervisor: Principal/Athletic Director

Qualifications:

1) Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students, peers and adults.

2) Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and faculty

3) Hold all certificates required by Kentucky law.

Job Goal: To instruct all student participants in the fundamental skills and knowledge of the sport or activity; to provide an atmosphere for successful individual development through monitoring, evaluating and reinforcing.

General Duties and Performance Responsibilities:

  • Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines.
  • Present a positive image of the school to parents, and convey to them the school’s genuine concern with the education, growth and development of each student.
  • Seek to establish friendly and cooperative partnerships between home and school.
  • Work to develop a positive public relationship between the school district and the community.
  • Carry out assignments in a timely manner without undue checking.
  • React positively to directives.
  • Have a willingness to cooperate with the superintendent, district administrators, principals, and staff.
  • Maintain the confidentiality, both verbally and in written form, of each student’s educational record.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Follow the District financial procedures and guidelines.
  • Adhere with federal, state and district program guidelines, policies, procedures and laws.

Specific Duties & Performance Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all practices.
  • Supervise team at all events.
  • Organize and conduct team tryouts.
  • Make arrangements for approved travel and supervise students on trips, which may include overnight stays.
  • Help keep an accurate and up-to-date inventory.
  • Assume responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities used in the program.
  • Recommend student awards.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the rules and regulations regarding the Cheer Team.
  • Support and enforce the program rules and regulations in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Maintain participation records concerning the team.
  • Prepare detailed reports highlighting the activity accomplishments, participation levels and recommendations for its improvement.
  • Prepare detailed reports highlighting the financial activities of the program when requested.
  • Select a variety of instruction methods to teach the activity objectives.
  • Have knowledge of CPR and First Aid.
  • Shall be knowledgeable of blood borne pathogens and other infectious materials and the procedures of dealing with them.
  • Promote and directly work toward academic achievement during the high school career and serve as a liaison for post-secondary scholarships and other financial incentives.
  • Ensure equitable access, inclusion and opportunities to learn are provided.
  • Present a professional appearance.

Specific Duties & Performance Responsibilities:

  • Present a positive image of the school to parents, and convey to them the school’s genuine concern with the education, growth and development of each student.
  • Perform other duties related to the position as assigned by the Supervisor.
