Job Description
Coaching Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the Junior High Cheer Team including tryouts, practices, and games.
- Develop and execute an effective training program.
- Motivate and mentor student-athletes on and off the court.
- Instruct and guide student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for team success.
- Lead student-athletes in developing moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
- Foster teamwork, discipline, respect, sportsmanship, and skill development.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
- Cooperate timely with the School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department regarding requested information.
- Meet all requirements mandated by the District Board of Education, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) concerning the Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) training/certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
- Check academic eligibility status for prospective student-athletes.
- Follow District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria stated in the job description.
- Model expected behavior toward student-athletes, including punctuality, positivity, respect, constructive criticism, and adherence to program disciplines.
- Maintain appropriate sideline conduct and use suitable language at all times.
- Accept and apply constructive criticism and suggestions for coaching improvement.
- Be aware of and implement administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendents, Principals, Conference Leagues, ODE, and OHSAA.
- Provide in-season training rules and any applicable out-of-season rules to student-athletes before season start; enforce due process for violations.
- Participate in clinics and available programs to enhance coaching performance.
- Participate in school events such as awards nights, pep assemblies, and booster meetings.
- Assist in preparing the team for opponents.
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
Skills / Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of cheer rules and techniques.
- Passionate and dedicated to inspiring student-athletes.
- Previous coaching cheer experience preferred.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Serve as a positive role model.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills associated with cheerleading.
- Fundraising experience (preferred).
Training / Certifications:
- Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
- Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school and/or college level desired.
- Provide satisfactory results of County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check.
- Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
- Proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) training/certification.
Contract Provisions:
Type of Contract: Supplemental Annual Limited
Salary: Per Schedule E Contract of current C.F.T. Labor Agreement
