Job summary

PacifiCorp seeks a skilled telecom engineer to provide technical leadership in the planning, design, provisioning, and support of enterprise telecommunications infrastructure. You will handle FCC licensing, frequency coordination, and ASR applications, coordinating with multiple engineering teams and customers.

The role spans design, project budgeting, and field coordination across major networks, with opportunities for progression to higher levels.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college/university.
  • Basic knowledge of telecommunications or networking experience.
  • Ability to document design of systems using computer-aided drafting program or equivalent software.
  • Basic knowledge of trunking, circuit design, synchronous optical networking, team division multiplexing, T1’s, ISDN, Frame Relay, voicemail, PBX administration and scripting, ATM and microwave/radio communications.
  • Able to perform tasks related to FCC licensing, database administration, frequency coordination, FAA/FCC ASR applications, mobile radio buildouts, site agreements, MAS radio administration, property/site/frequency information requests, power line carrier management, etc.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct engineering research studies and technical analyses in areas of specialized expertise.
  • Perform tasks related to FCC licensing, database administration, frequency coordination, FAA/FCC ASR applications, and mobile radio buildouts.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines, project engineers/managers, and customers to design telecom transport systems.
  • Design major network and communications systems and create/update diagrams; implement provisioning of connected systems.
  • Provide budget estimates for construction project requirements.
  • Deliver on commitments including site visits and coordination with field personnel.
  • Maintain project timelines and budgets.
  • Develop design specifications and bid packages for external services.
  • Review and evaluate system and equipment performance.
