Job summary

AutoZone is seeking a Manager in Training (MIT) to develop leadership skills and prepare for promotion into Retail Store Management. The program focuses on leadership training, customer service excellence, and operational expertise with hands-on assignments and structured learning opportunities.

Progress to management within 8–12 weeks is possible based on performance. MITs work under the Store Manager, participate in staffing, and contribute to inventory control, merchandising, and sales

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of prior experience as a retail manager or supervisor.
• Flexible schedule with full-time availability including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing store team to deliver WOW customer service.
• Maintain clear, effective communication with employees and customers to drive store execution.
• Learn to manage, analyze, and reconcile monthly P&L statements to optimize profitability.
• Support store operations and training processes while ensuring policy compliance.
• Assist with staffing, mentoring, and training to develop a strong team.
• Oversee customer service activities and resolve concerns to ensure outstanding experiences.
• Oversee inventory accuracy, merchandising, and sales strategies to maximize success.
• Complete management skills training and learn core aspects of store operations.
