Job summary

Karen’s School of Fashion in New York City is seeking a talented Fashion Design Instructor to join our Saturday program for four hours (10 am–2 pm). This in-person, part-time role teaches students ages 8–18 and adults, with hands-on instruction in fashion illustration, patternmaking, cutting, and garment construction.

You will guide projects from concept to finished garment, adapt lessons for all ages and abilities, and help maintain a creative classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of fashion design, illustration, patternmaking, cutting, and sewing.
• Experience teaching fashion design or sewing is preferred.
• Ability to work with children, teenagers, and adults.

Responsibilities

• Teach fashion design to students ages 8–18, as well as adults.
• Provide hands-on instruction in fashion illustration and drawing, patternmaking, fabric cutting, and garment construction.
• Teach students how to operate sewing machines safely and confidently.
• Guide students through individual fashion design projects, from concept to finished garment.
• Adapt instruction to accommodate different ages, experience levels, and abilities.
