The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa invites applications for a full-time 9-month, non-tenure track Instructor in Fashion Design. This on-campus role combines undergraduate teaching with operation and upkeep of the department’s apparel design laboratories and equipment.

The successful candidate brings substantial professional apparel industry experience and will teach courses in garment construction, patternmaking, production, and related studio‑based topics, while advancing hands‑on learning

Qualificações

• MFA or MS in Fashion Design or related field.
• College-level teaching experience in Fashion Design.
• Professional experience in fashion or apparel industry.
• Expertise in garment construction, sewing techniques, and apparel production methods.
• Ability to teach introductory through advanced Fashion Design courses.
• Experience operating industrial sewing machines.

Responsabilidades

• Teach Fashion Design courses that develop students’ creative, technical, and professional capabilities.
• Support and maintain apparel production laboratories and equipment; ensure safety and readiness.
• Collaborate with Fashion Design faculty to support studio instruction and lab experiences.
• Contribute to department service and community engagement.
• Promote hands-on learning and integrate design with production processes.
