Job summary

Kellwood is seeking a fashion designer with strong trend-spotting skills and hands-on experience in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. The role involves researching trends, sketching designs, creating specs, and coordinating with production to ensure garments meet specifications.

Qualified candidates have an associate degree in apparel/fashion and at least three years of design experience, with sweater knowledge being a plus. Familiarity with WebPLM is preferred for smooth PLM processes.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in apparel/fashion required.
  • 3+ years of experience in fashion design.
  • Sweater knowledge is a plus.
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of WebPLM is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs research to analyze fashion trends in color, style, fabric, trims, and competitive products.
  • Collaborates with sales and management to discuss findings and predictions.
  • Creates apparel designs by sketching and writing specs including color, construction and materials.
  • Develops Illustrator flats for all styles and ensures accurate tech packs.
  • Determines yields, fabric and trim information and checks accuracy before handing to tech team.
  • Coordinates handoffs to production with clear communication to the team.
