Job summary

Rachel Comey in New York seeks an Atelier Coordinator to support day-to-day operations of the in-house atelier, keep sample development organized, prepare materials for pattern makers, sewers and cutter, and help every style arrive ready for fittings and handoff to production.

This newly created role offers growth with the atelier and requires working knowledge of garment construction, strong organizational skills, and collaboration with the design studio, product development and production

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in a designer sample room, atelier or product development team.
• Working knowledge of patterns and garment construction; reading patterns and spotting issues (no drafting).
• Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
• Experience maintaining schedules, WIPs or trackers for a busy team.
• Strong professional communication with design, PD and atelier teams.
• Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets; PLM experience is a plus.
• Fashion design/technical/product development degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the atelier's weekly and daily schedule for patternmaking, cutting and sewing based on priorities.
• Ensure every style has a complete development package and follow up on missing items.
• Keep atelier WIP up to date through proto, fit rounds and bulk approvals.
• Flag delays and capacity issues to Director of Product Development.
• Coordinate freelance pattern makers and sewers during seasonal peaks.
• Act as the day-to-day contact for pattern makers, sewers and cutter, ensuring materials and information are ready.
• Take notes in team check-ins and share updates across the atelier, design, PD and production.
• Track schedules and time off; onboard new or freelance team members.
• Maintain a respectful, organized and collaborative workroom.
• Prepare fittings, record fit comments, and ensure corrections reach the right pattern maker.
