Job summary

H2ajobs is seeking workers for livestock production on a farm in the United States. Responsibilities include feeding, monitoring, herding, administering basic medical treatments, branding, and operating farm equipment.

Candidates should be able to perform breeding-related tasks and assist with farm infrastructure maintenance. The role requires 2 months of recent, verifiable experience and the ability to speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies.
• Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures.
• Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and check physical characteristics.
• Provide medical treatment or arrange for veterinarians for more extensive treatment.
• Mark livestock to identify ownership and grade using brands, tags, paint, or tattoos.
• Drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals.
• Move equipment or livestock between locations.
• Perform duties related to livestock reproduction, such as breeding and artificial inseminations.
• Spray livestock with disinfectants and insecticides, or dip/bathe animals.
• Assist with snow removal and debris.
• Break ice during freezing weather to ensure access to fresh water.
• Assist with demolition/renovation work on farm buildings.
• Repair and maintain equipment used for livestock production.

Job description

Worker will be performing duties associated with SOC 45-2093-Livestock Worker to help produce goats and cattle. Duties performed will include: Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies. Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment. Mark livestock to identify ownership and grade, using brands, tags, paint, or tattoos. Drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals. Segregate animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition. Worker will assist with the demolition and removal of dilapidated buildings on the farm. Perform carpentry work to renovate interior spaces of homes and office on the farm. Repair and maintain equipment used for livestock production including pens, enclosures, chutes, bunks, troughs, stall, corrals, etc. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps and power-washers. Move equipment, or livestock from one location to another, manually or using trucks or carts. Perform duties related to livestock reproduction, such as breeding animals within appropriate timeframes, performing artificial inseminations, and helping with animal births. Spray livestock with disinfectants and insecticides, or dip or bathe animals. Assist with snow removal and debris. Break ice during times of freezing weather to ensure livestock have access to fresh water. Must speak and understand English.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities, all of which are in working order, including refrigeration, space for food preparation, cooking accessories and utensils, appliances, and dishwashing facilities so that workers may prepare their own meals. Kitchen facilities include adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure. Employer will provide transportation once a week to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries, when the employer is providing cooking and kitchen facilities.

Experience wanted: 2 months

Two (2) months of recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
