Job summary

H2ajobs is seeking workers for farm labor in Arcadia, Florida. Duties include planting, nursery maintenance, field care, and operating farm equipment. You will assist with greenhouse operations and general farm tasks while adhering to safety procedures.

Experience is requested at 2 months, and housing and meals are provided. Transportation is arranged for workers living in employer-provided housing as described in the addendum.

Responsibilities

• Planting, transplanting, potting, and spacing nursery stock according to specifications.
• Prepare planting media, fill containers, and maintain nursery inventory.
• Water, fertilize, prune, weed, mulch, stake, and maintain nursery plants and sod fields.
• Operate tractors, skid steers, forklifts, utility vehicles, mowers, and hand tools safely.
• Prepare fields and nursery growing areas; grade, cultivate, and install soil amendments.
• Load and unload nursery stock, sod, rock, mulch and materials.
• Assist with greenhouse and shade house operations; monitor environmental conditions.
• General farm labor: clean work areas, repair fences, maintain drainage, and follow safety rules.

Job description

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time-to-time, and may include all of the following job specifications:

Planting: Plant, transplant, pot, and properly space nursery stock. Perform manual labor outdoors, follow planting specifications, and maintain plant quality.

Prepare Inventory: Prepare planting media, fill containers, and maintain nursery inventory.

Maintain Fields: Water, fertilize, prune, weed, mulch, stake, and maintain nursery plants and sod fields. Maintain healthy crops through irrigation and cultural practices.

Operate Agricultural Equipment: Operate tractors, skid steers, forklifts, utility vehicles, mowers, sod harvesters, and hand tools safely.

Prepare fields and nursery growing areas: Grade, cultivate, spread soil amendments, and install weed barriers.

Load and unload trucks: Load/unload nursery stock, sod, rock, mulch and materials.

Assist with greenhouse and shade house operations: Monitor environmental conditions and maintain crops.

General Farm Labor: Monitor environmental conditions and maintain crops. Perform general farm and nursery maintenance. Clean work areas, repair fences, maintain drainage, organize materials. Follow all safety procedures. Maintain tools/equipment and comply with safety rules. Perform other agricultural duties as assigned. Complete incidental agricultural tasks supporting nursery and sod production.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: The employer will provide free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities and free weekly transportation to the grocery store to workers living in employer-provided housing which will enable workers to prepare their own meals.

Transport: Inbound: Workers will determine their own inbound travel arrangements to the place of employment to begin the job contract. If the workers are coming from Mexico, the employer will provide and pay for a charter bus service from the consulate city to the place of employment for workers.
