H2ajobs in Kansas seeks a farmhand to care for cattle through the winter season, from December to March. Duties include tending cattle on cornstalks, monitoring water tanks, and providing basic care as needed.

In February cows move to a dry lot for hay daily; calves are assisted at birth, branded in March, and vaccinations are completed before pasture season. Housing, meals, and some transportation support are provided.

We have cattle that will need cared for through the winter months, from December to the end of March. They will be on rented cornstalks and moved to a dry lot until I send them to pasture. They will also be on milo stalks and a few wheat fields. From there I lease them out in the spring through fall until the next winter. Duties include tending to the cattle while on cornstalks, checking their water tanks, and doctoring when needed. In February the cows will need to be hauled to a dry lot where they will need hay daily. We also start our preparation for calving. When they start calving, cows will need to be checked a minimum of 3 times a day. Employees duties will include assisting with pulling a calf, doctoring babies, and tagging calves after birth. In March, they will get branded and get another vaccination before they are sent to summer pasture or sold. Employees will complete general farm duties as assigned. Employer may provide pay increases for performance and experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: The employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities and space for food preparation, as well as the necessary equipment, appliances (including refrigeration),cooking accessories, and dish washing facilities (e.g., adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure) that are in working condition and will be used by workers to sufficiently prepare three (3) meals a day. Employer will offer free transportation to town for personal services (i.e. banking, groceries) at least once per week for non range workers.

Transport: The employer will pay the worker for reasonable costs incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad to the place of employment (inbound/outbound). The employer will permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved.

Experience wanted: 3 months

Job requires extensive walking, repetitive movements, and exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Job requires a regular drivers license within 30 days of hire. Requires 3 months experience.
