Job summary

H2ajobs in Holyoke, CO seeks farm workers to perform a range of agricultural duties and livestock care. You will operate tractors and other equipment, feed and herd cattle, and help maintain facilities and equipment.

Housing and meals are provided; travel reimbursement is available under the H-2A program rules. Minimum experience stated is 2 months; you must be able to work outdoors in various conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate farm machinery to plant, spray, cultivate, harvest and store crops.
• Feed, water, herd, and manage cattle; assist in handling calves.
• Inspect animals for health issues and administer basic care as directed.
• Monitor grazing areas and move livestock as needed between fields.
• Move animals between pens, barns and pastures as directed.
• Maintain and repair equipment and buildings; perform general workshop tasks.
• Ensure humane handling of animals and compliance with safety guidelines.

Job description

Job duties include but are not limited to:

Operate farm machinery to plant, spray, cultivate, harvest and store crops.

Feeding, watering, herding, castrating, branding, weighing, catching and loading cattle.

Examining animals to detect diseases, injuries and ensure that they are in optimal health.

Assisting in birthing, administering medications, vaccinations, or insecticide.

Monitor corn stalk fields for grazing purposes and determine whether mother cows and calves should move to new grazing fields.

Move animals between pens, pastures and barns as directed

Load/unload feed, supplies, and bedding materials.

Assist in preparation of pastures, feedlots, and animal facilities for seasonal changes.

Operate tractors, skid steers, and other farm equipment to haul feed, manure, and supplies

Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures.

Ongoing maintenance includes cleaning, maintaining and repair of equipment, various workshop tasks as well as maintenance of general buildings.

Maintain and repair fencing.

Ensure humane handling of animals

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Housing provided to the workers has fully equipped kitchen where they can prepare and cook their own meals three times a day. The kitchen is fully functional and equipped with appliances such as stove, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher – all in working condition. The kitchen is equipped with the necessary utensils for prepping and cooking food. Adequate sinks with the warm and cold water under pressure. The employer will ensure that workers have access to a grocery store at least once a week to purchase their own food/produce. Workers have access to vehicles to drive themselves to the grocery stores from the house to the stores and back.

Transport: The Employer will, as per H2A regulations, reimburse the worker for travel cost, including daily subsistence rates stipulated at the time, from the worker’s place of residence to the workplace, and upon contract completion, from the workplace back to the worker’s place of residence at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charge for the distance involved, for example return bus and or airfare.
