Job summary

West Virginia Department of Agriculture in Henderson seeks a Farm Worker I – Temporary to perform routine manual farm labor at a state-owned facility under the Farm Manager.

Responsibilities include feeding and caring for livestock, tending crops, operating basic farm equipment, repairing fences, and assisting with daily maintenance. A valid driver’s license and pre-employment checks are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an eighth-grade education; high school diploma preferred.
• Two years of full-time or equivalent farming experience.
• Substitutions: vocational training in agriculture may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Grind and mix feed for livestock as instructed.
• Salt, feed, water and bed livestock by hand or with equipment.
• Clean barns, livestock quarters and buildings.
• Operate basic farm equipment such as a tractor and related machinery.
• Plant and harvest crops by hand or with machines; load/unload produce and supplies.
