Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Farm Sustainability Officer to guide environmentally responsible farming near East London. You will develop and implement sustainability plans, monitor soil health and water use, and drive initiatives to minimize environmental impact while maximizing productivity.

You will lead training for farm staff, assess regulatory compliance, and partner with agencies and communities to advance sustainable agriculture within our client’s operations in the Eastern Cape.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Agronomy, Sustainable Agriculture, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental management or sustainability within agriculture.
  • Knowledge of soil conservation, water management, and IPM.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and certification standards for agriculture.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with data interpretation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for farm teams and management.

Responsibilities

Job description

Our client is seeking a dedicated Farm Sustainability Officer to oversee and promote environmentally responsible and economically viable farming practices for their operations near East London . This role is critical in ensuring that our agricultural activities minimize environmental impact while maximizing long-term productivity and resource efficiency. You will work closely with farm managers and staff to implement and monitor sustainability initiatives, focusing on soil health, water conservation, biodiversity, and waste reduction. Key Responsibilities
