Job summary

Historic New England operates Casey Farm in Saunderstown, Rhode Island, and seeks an Assistant Farm Manager to support agricultural, horticultural, and marketing activities. You will assist in greenhouse work, field tasks, and coordinating volunteers during the growing season and at the weekly farmers market.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 3 years of farm-related experience, and a valid driver’s license to operate farm equipment. Strong supervisory and teamwork skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• 3 years of job-related experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive farm equipment.
• Experience managing a field crew.
• Experience managing volunteers.
• Experience with tractors, power tools and mowing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee farm hands in harvesting, transplanting, weeding and field prep.
• Assist farm manager with greenhouse seeding, transplanting and equipment maintenance.
• Supervise work shares and volunteers in above tasks.
• Assist in selling and donating produce.
• Answer visitor questions about farm activities.
• Perform other duties as required.
