Job summary

Navajo Agricultural Products Industry (NAPI) is seeking a Crop Foreman to supervise crop production in our Four Corners region near Farmington, NM. You will oversee planting, irrigation, harvesting, grading, and equipment maintenance, ensuring compliance with USDA quality controls and safety standards.

Ideal candidates have high school completion, college coursework in agriculture or related fields, and experience in agricultural leadership or supervision.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• College coursework in Plant Biology, Horticulture, Agriculture or related field.
• Some functions require certifications and training which will be provided by NAPI.
• Associate’s degree is preferred.
• One year of exempt-level agricultural experience may substitute for the Associate’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality controls per USDA standards for inspection, grading, sorting, handling and shipments.
• Inspect crops, fields and stock to determine conditions and needs for cultivation, spraying, weeding or harvesting.
• Assign duties for planting, irrigation, harvesting, packaging, grading and equipment maintenance.
• Monitor workers for efficiency and safety; initiate corrective actions as needed.
• Review employee work for quality and quantity; assist with payroll and personnel records.
• Plan and supervise planting, fertilizing, pest/weed control and landscape maintenance.
• Prepare reports on farm conditions, yields, machinery breakdowns, and labor issues.
• Assist with requisition and purchase of supplies like insecticides, parts and tools.
