Responsibilities

  • Maintains quality controls per USDA standards for inspection, grading, sorting, handling, and shipments.
  • Inspects crops, fields, and plant stock to determine cultivation, spraying, weeding, or harvesting needs.
  • Assigns duties for planting, cultivation, irrigation, harvesting, packaging, and equipment maintenance.
  • Observes workers to identify inefficient or unsafe procedures and initiates corrective actions.
  • Reviews employees’ work to evaluate quality and quantity.
  • Prepares and maintains time and payroll reports and personnel actions such as evaluations, hires, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Plans and supervises planting, fertilizing, pest/weed control, and landscaping infrastructure and maintenance.
  • Prepares reports on farm conditions, yields, machinery breakdowns, or labor issues.
  • Assists with requisition and purchasing of supplies like insecticides, machine parts, lubricants, and tools.
  • Estimates labor requirements and schedules work accordingly.
  • Directs or assists with equipment adjustment and repair.
  • Ensures employees reach designated fields via organized transportation.
  • Ensures sanitation standards in the work environment and proper labeling.
  • Keeps records for planting, harvesting, storage, sanitation, and maintenance.

Job description

  • Maintains and complies with total quality controls according to USDA standards relating to inspection, grading, sorting, handling, and shipments that ensure NAPI’s concerns on food safety.
  • Inspects crops, fields, and plant stock to determine conditions and need for cultivating, spraying, weeding, or harvesting.
  • Assigns duties such as planting, cultivation, irrigation and harvesting of crops or plants, product packaging, and grading, and equipment maintenance.
  • Observes workers to detect inefficient and unsafe work procedures or to identify problems, initiating corrective action as necessary.
  • Reviews employees’ work to evaluate quality and quantity.
  • Prepares and maintains time and payroll reports, as well as details of personnel actions such as performance evaluations, hires, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Plans and supervises infrastructure and collections maintenance functions such as planting, fertilizing, pest and weed control, and landscaping.
  • Prepares reports regarding farm conditions, crop yields, machinery breakdowns, or labor problems.
  • Assists with requisition and purchase supplies such as insecticides, machine parts or lubricants, and tools.
  • Estimates labor requirements for jobs, and plans work schedule accordingly.
  • Directs or assists with the adjustment and repair of farm equipment and machinery.
  • Ensures employees get to designated fields through organized transportation.
  • Ensures employee work environment meets sanitation standards (restrooms, handwashing, and drinking water) and ensures proper labeling is posted.
  • Assists with record keeping for planting, harvesting, storage, sanitation, and repairs and maintenance records
