Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will schedule work, stock supplies, and ensure timely completion of work orders to keep operations running smoothly. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, at least 2 years in maintenance with electrical, welding, and plumbing experience, and the ability to operate heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in maintenance, construction, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in electrical troubleshooting, welding and plumbing.
• Must be able to operate a 4WD truck and trailer; backhoe and forklift experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist supervisor in prioritization and scheduling of maintenance orders and projects.
• Maintain preventative maintenance as directed by the maintenance manager.
• Be on call for emergencies and work weekends as needed.

With opportunities across locations and functions, a culture grounded in our Core Four values - gratitude, communication, respect and accountability - and a strong commitment to learning, collaboration, and innovation, Smithfield offers challenging and rewarding careers where you can grow, contribute and make a real impact. **Apply Now!**## Your OpportunityWorking under the direction of the Maintenance Manager is responsible for building, repairs and maintenance work.## Core Responsibilities* Responsible for maintenance and repairs as requested by production and directed by the maintenance leader including: + Scheduling work with the applicable farm manager including arranging for help from a farm employee if needed. + Minimizing driving time by assuring appropriate supplies for each job are stocked on the service truck. + Completing work in a timely manner and submitting a final report on the work order to the maintenance manager.* Assist supervisor in coordinating prioritization and scheduling of maintenance orders and projects.* Responsible for preventative maintenance as scheduled by the maintenance manager.* Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental laws and procedures to which Smithfield Hog Production subscribes.* Report all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.* Read and understand the company’s emergency notification process and will be responsible for reviewing that policy at their worksite.* Responsible for understanding all safety requirements of the job and for performing the job in compliance with the safety requirements including OSHA’s trenching standards.* All other duties as assigned.*The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
