Job summary

The School District of Philadelphia is seeking a skilled Farm Maintenance Worker to support the Fox Chase Farm operations and educational programs. You will maintain farm buildings, equipment, and grounds, and assist with hay production and crops as needed.

Responsibilities include operating tractors and related machinery, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating with the Site Administrator on work orders and safety. OSHA 10 Agriculture certification is required to perform this role.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five years of full-time, paid experience in general to specialized property work.
  • Experience with barns, equipment, machinery, livestock and grounds preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain farm-related buildings and livestock facilities, including sheds and barns, excluding residence.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on farm building systems (ventilation, gates, temperature control) and related structures.
  • Install and maintain fencing and gates; mow and trim fields and fence lines for livestock health and crops.
  • Operate and maintain farm equipment (tractors, balers, rakes, mowers; irrigation and ventilation systems).
  • Track work orders and communicate site issues to the Site Administrator.
  • Assist in hay production and other crops; support student programs and internships.
