Job summary

Auburn University seeks a Veterinary Technician to support Farm Animal Services for outpatient, inpatient, and ambulatory care, primarily livestock and large exotic animals. The role involves direct animal contact and requires rabies pre-exposure vaccination and antibody monitoring per CDC guidelines.

Hours are Mon–Fri, 7:30 am–5:30 pm, with occasional call-backs or weekend work. Licensure in Alabama and the appropriate experience level are needed for progression to Levels I–III.

Qualifications

  • Level I, II or III depending on education and experience.
  • Substitutions allowed for Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with instruction of veterinary students in initial exams, catheter placement, intubation, hoof trims, animal handling, surgical preparation and fluid therapy.
  • Provide direct patient care including physical exams, medications, vaccinations, catheter placement, sample collection and therapy.
  • Maintain floor stock, order supplies, restock, and clean hospital barns, labs, and ambulatory vehicles.
  • Assist with timely completion of client medical records and billing, and communicate with clinicians and audit department on bills.
  • Assist clinicians, house officers and students with library work, records search, write procedures and reports, and prepare data for presentations.

Education

Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology
Associate's degree + 2 years experience
Associate's degree + 4 years experience
