Job summary

Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Veterinary Assistant to support Farm Animal Services by performing a variety of duties related to the care and treatment of animal patients, including outpatient, inpatient, and ambulatory cases. This position is Mon - Fri from 7:30 am until 5:30 pm, with occasional call-backs and weekends.

The role involves direct patient care, animal handling, and assisting with exams, treatments, and records.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinary students with initial exams and procedures, including catheter placement and hoof trims.
• Provide direct patient care: exams, medications, vaccinations, catheter placement, sample collection, and monitoring.
• Maintain floor stock and perform cleaning of hospital barns, labs, and ambulatory vehicles.
• Support medical records: processing bills, communicating with clinicians, and preparing data for reports.
