Job summary

WBM INC, based in Wheeling, IL, is looking for a skilled FANUC Lathe Setup Technician to join our precision manufacturing team. This hands-on role suits an experienced machinist who values craftsmanship and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

You will set up and operate FANUC CNC lathes, read blueprints and GD&T, select tooling, program with G-code, perform in-process inspections, and uphold safety and quality on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Proven experience setting up and operating FANUC CNC lathes in a production environment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and GD&T.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Strong understanding of speeds, feeds, and cutting tool selection.
• Experience with G-code programming and FANUC control navigation.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and tight tolerances.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate FANUC-controlled CNC lathes for production runs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
• Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices.
• Input, edit, and optimize CNC programs using FANUC controls.
• Perform in-process inspection using precision measuring instruments.
• Troubleshoot machine issues and make offset adjustments to maintain tight tolerances.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and safety protocols on the shop floor.
