Job summary

Wizards of the Coast is seeking a Commissioning Art Director for the Universes Beyond line. You will collaborate with top fantasy artists and external partners to curate a high-volume, story-driven visual program that elevates iconic brands within magic-inspired games.

This is a hybrid 12-month assignment through Workwell as a contingent worker. The role demands cinematic art direction, strong collaboration, and an eye for brand-consistent visuals.

Qualifications

• 2+ years commercial art experience.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Portfolio demonstrating cinematic creative vision.
• Passion for pop culture and current entertainment trends.
• Understanding of Magic as both a game and a brand.
• Knowledge of fantasy illustration market and diverse artists.
• Proficiency in Photoshop; MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Commission artwork by identifying freelance illustrators and directing art.
• Develop style guides aligned with partner brands’ IP and provide art direction.
• Review print-ready files to ensure final card quality.
