Job summary

Wizards of the Coast is seeking a Visual Writer for the Magic Studio’s Universes Beyond product line. You’ll blend narrative craft with art briefs to shape IPs across its growing card sets, while thriving in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

You’ll write a high volume of art briefs, provide timely feedback to art directors on illustrations and lore, and coordinate with Creative Leads to ensure art aligns with card-set goals. Hybrid, 12-month contingent role based in the US.

Qualifications

• High-level writing skills and professional writing experience in visual fields (comics or screenwriting).
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• Deep love for media and popular culture.
• Bias toward action and collaborative iteration.
• Passion for using feedback and data to inform work.
• Inclusive storytelling across various IPs.
• Knowledge of Magic: The Gathering rules and gameplay.

Responsibilities

• Write a high volume of art briefs.
• Provide timely feedback to art directors on illustrations, including mechanics and lore continuity.
• Coordinate with Creative Leads to represent card-set goals in briefs and final illustrations.
