Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join their Family Support Services team in Welkom, Free State. The role focuses on providing comprehensive support, guidance, and intervention to families facing socio-economic challenges, child welfare concerns, and domestic issues.

You will assess needs, develop care plans, connect families with community resources, advocate for well-being, and collaborate with a professional network to ensure coordinated service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree recognized by SACSSAP.
• Registration as a Social Worker with SACSSAP is mandatory.
• Experience in family support or child welfare.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and ethics in social work.
• Excellent counseling, assessment, and intervention skills.
• Ability to manage complex caseloads.
• Driver's license and reliable transport for client visits.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychosocial assessments of individuals and families to identify needs and strengths.
• Develop and implement intervention plans in collaboration with clients.
• Provide counseling to individuals, couples, and families.
• Facilitate access to community resources, services, and support networks.
• Advocate for clients' rights and needs within systems (legal, educational, healthcare).
• Respond to crisis situations with immediate support and intervention.
• Maintain confidential and timely case notes and documentation.
• Collaborate with other professionals, agencies, and stakeholders for coordinated service delivery.
• Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and professional development activities.
• Promote child protection and family well-being principles in Welkom and surrounding areas.
