Job summary

El Paso Center for Children seeks a Family Support Specialist to provide direct services to families with youth 17 and younger. The role builds strong relationships with families and community partners, delivering evidence-based curricula such as Why Try and Strengthening Families.

Responsibilities include conducting intake, developing service plans, coordinating resources, and referring to counselors when higher levels of care are needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.
• Experience for education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis if the person holding the family support specialist position does not have a bachelor’s degree.
• At least one year of relevant program experience.
• Bilingual Spanish and English preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Must have driver’s license and be able to travel as required.
• Must be able to lift and carry at least 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate individual and group sessions using evidence-based curricula such as Why Try and Strengthening Families, tailoring to each family.
• Guide participants in developing problem-solving skills, parenting strategies, stress/conflict management, and positive communication.
• Deliver skills-based training for youth and parents aligned with curriculum objectives.
• Facilitate Parent Cafés to reinforce family engagement.
• Provide crisis support and connect families to higher levels of care when needed.
• Conduct intake, assessment, and initial service plan development with families.
