Our team of public health professionals and clinical experts is uniquely equipped to manage state contracts. We are seeking high-performing contractors to join our team to deliver services efforts that include: Behavior Aide (BA), Family/Children counseling, Family/ Children assessments, Transportation/ Escorting, Child Supervision, and Drug Screening.

This opportunity is a 1099 Contractor role. As a Contractor, you will have the ability to build your schedule based on your availability, select your cases, increase your compensation based on type of services provided and partner with an agency that emphasizes the development of your professional career.

As a Family Support Counselor - Carroll County, you will play a crucial role in supporting families through various challenges. You will provide counseling services to children and families involved in the justice system, aiming to reduce instances of child abuse and neglect. Counselors also facilitate psychosocial assessments and offer trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy for families dealing with domestic violence and environmental trauma. The Family Support Counselor is responsible for providing in-home support and behavioral services to families and program support to agency social workers.

  • Provide crisis intervention services for clients experiencing acute mental health crises or emotional distress.
  • Offer support and guidance to clients and their families during challenging times.
  • Conduct problem-solving in individual sessions to assist clients in addressing challenges (i.e., domestic violence, trauma, anger/stress management, enhanced behavior management for children/youth, grief counseling, separation issues, enhanced methods of appropriate disciplinary techniques).
  • Utilize various therapeutic modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic therapy.
  • Understand the key values and activities of intensive case management.
  • Provide intensive in-home counseling to maintain and stabilize a child’s permanency.
  • Assist in preparing for the safe return of the child to the parent/caretaker.
  • Make face-to-face contact with the family in the family's home at least once a week.
  • Complete a family assessment to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the family unit.
  • Provide substance abuse treatment and education.
  • Help clients develop coping skills, improve self-awareness, and achieve their treatment goals.
  • Provide information and support to transitioning foster youth during assessment, case planning or other permanency and transition-related activities.
  • Maintain detailed files, case log, and weekly progress reports on each assigned family.
  • Assist assigned families in improving their relationships, as well as teaching parents how to provide better care, nutrition, hygiene, discipline, protection, instruction, and supervision.
  • Help families discover and gain access to community resources which would assist them in meeting their needs, including food, housing, transportation, education, employment, and respite care.
Qualifications

Requirements Family Support Counselor must:

  • Minimum:
    • Bachelor’s degree in human services.
    • 3 years of human services experience.
    • Master Level professional eligible for Georgia state licensure under supervision.
    • Provisional Licensed or Associate Licensed Professional in the state of Georgia with: Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT), Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).
    • 1 year of experience in diagnosis.
    • 1 year of experience in creating treatment plans.
  • Preferred:
    • Doctoral Degree in the Human Services field and licensed with one of the following:
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
    • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Must have 1 or more years of human service experience where you assisted/provided aide/worked with children or adults. A Child Development Associate certificate (CDA) is required.
  • Understands the key values and activities of intensive case management.
  • Must possess MS Office: Computer Skills.
  • Professional Verbal and Written Communication Skills.
  • Behavioral Intervention Skills (Required).
  • Crisis Intervention Skills (Required).
  • Have strong clinical, crisis management, de-escalation, and critical thinking skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver’s License, with a minimum of 3-year clear driving history.
  • Must have reliable transportation (be able to travel locally and statewide, within 100 miles from residence, as needed).
  • Must have professional liability insurance (required).
  • Must have and maintain personal vehicle and car insurance at 100/300/100 bodily injury limits (required).
  • Must complete state and project online trainings provided by HCES.

These services will be provided in the following Georgia counties: Region 1-Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Fannin, Gilmer, Gordon, Murray, Pickens, Walker; Region 2- Dawson, Lumpkin, Rabun, Towns, Union; Region 3- Douglas, Floyd, Haralson, Paulding; Region 4- Carroll, Fayette, Heard, Henry, Lamar, Pike; Region 5- Barrow, Elbert, Greene, Rockdale.
