Family Shelter Resident Advisor (FT/3rd Shift) - Grove Campus
SAFE Alliance seeks a FT/3rd Shift Resident Advisor for the Residential & Support Services program in the Family & Community Shelter department. The primary responsibilities of the Resident Advisor (RA) staff is to provide immediate resident support to those we serve in the Family Shelter. The RA staff work closely with all other shelter staff to ensure the needs of the shelter residents are met and that the services provided promote the safety, healing, and empowerment of survivors residing in the shelter. The RA staff will assist in creating an environment that is welcoming, inclusive,and client focused.

We are looking for one person to work on a full-time, non-exempt basis for an hourly salary of $21.20 dependent upon experience and an additional hourly language differential of $1.73 for those who are English/Spanish bilingual
Bilingual fluency in English/Spanish is preferred; fluency being the ability to clearly and accurately communicate to convey information using the Spanish language, both verbally and in writing.
The work location will be based at Grove Blvd. Campus in the East Austin area.
This position will include no travel in the community or between campuses with no ability for remote/hybrid work.
The shift currently available is Monday through Friday, 12am (midnight) to 8am.

Reports to: Family Shelter Resident Advisor Program Manager
Major Responsibilities:
- Builds strong client/customer relationships and delivers client/customer-centric solutionswhile providing front desk coverage (answering incoming calls, responding to intercoms, assisting residents at front desk, etc.) as needed. Is aware of front desk activity and is proactive in offering assistance, support, crisis intervention, conflict resolution.
- Employs a client focused attitude when they orient survivors to the shelter building and assigned cluster helping to ensure that family members and individuals feel safe and are introduced to other residents and staff. Focuses on supporting survivors with communal living and community building and anything related to a comfortable and successful shelter stay.
- Addresses and maintains personalized safety planning verbally and in writing with survivors in a timely manner and implements motivation/persuasiveness to educate survivors on the importance of safety throughout the survivor's program participation.
- Remains survivor focused and adheres to service models which benefit the population we serve, including trauma informed care, trust-based relational intervention and restorative justice.
- Adheres to situational adaptability as they support survivors with communal living and community building and anything related to a comfortable and successful shelter stay. Assists survivors in their assigned cluster (resident hall) with communal living support through communication, including facilitating ongoing cluster meetings.
- Provides crisis intervention while instilling trust and valuing differences in client interactions and needs as well as following the shelter rules reduction model.
- Ensures that the front desk is covered during her/his scheduled shift, or notifies direct supervisor immediately and finds appropriate relief staff coverage if unable to cover her/his shift.
- Consistently on time for scheduled shift unless absence or tardiness is approved in advance by immediate supervisor.
- Responsible for completing shelter intake and orientation to incoming new shelter residents, in accordance with theOrientation Intake Procedures, and helps new resident(s) move and settle into shelter.
- Utilizes Client/Customerfocus while communicating with SAFELine and shelter staff to ensure that agency services are coordinated and working in tandem with each other.
- Ensures all shift notes, Shelter Overviews and other necessary documentation for shelter operation, and admission to shelter is complete, legible, and accurate.
- Ensures all required data entry in agency's online database is accurate and complete by end of each scheduled shift.
- Ensures all documents are filed in the correct client folders at the end of each scheduled shift.
- Attends all team meetings, shelter program meetings and agency meetings as required or needed.
- Responsible for enrolling and attending any and all required professional trainings as needed. Meets required continuing education (CEUs) requirements for position and provides written documentation to supervisor in a timely fashion for submission to Human Resources.

Required Qualifications
Physical Demands and Work Environment:

- Must be able to clearly and accurately communicate to convey information using the English and/or Spanish paperwork: Ensures the completion all requisite agency and program paperwork for program language, both verbally and in writing.
- Visual acuity capable of drafting, editing, reviewing, and/or comprehending materials in a standard typeface size 10 font or above, are required.
- Be capable of sitting and standing for extended periods of time, as well as be able to intermittently push, pull, or lift 20 lbs. of force.
- Occasional exposure to adverse working conditions, including the performance of work in cramped and/or awkward positions, and exposure to safety hazards, loud noise, traffic, and inclement weather conditions is possible.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to respond to clients and callers in a constructive, supportive and non-judgmental manner.
- Ability to problem-solve and diffuse crisis under pressure andto make good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forwardas well as support client success.
- Knowledge or background in the topics of sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, poverty and disability preferred.
- Recognizes the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to the agency.
- Personal maturity and stability sufficient to handle traumatic information inherent in this work, ability to recognize and seek out support for secondary trauma if needed andto rebound from setbacks and adversity when facing difficult situations.

- Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check if applicable), as well as a pre-employment drug screen and TB test, if applicable.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field required.
- Equivalent years of professional-level relevant experience is acceptable in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
- Must be fully able to clearly and accurately communicate to convey information using the English language (other language as position may require), both verbally and in writing.
- One to two years crisis intervention experience preferred.
Certification & Training
This position requires completion of the 40-Hour Office of Attorney General Sexual Assault Advocacy Training Program in person within six (6) months of starting employment, along with participating in annual continuing education throughout your employment.
