Job summary

The SAFE Alliance seeks a Part-time Resident Advisor for the Grove Blvd. Campus in East Austin, serving the Family Shelter. You will respond to residents, support safety and empowerment, and coordinate with shelter staff to uphold a welcoming, client-focused environment.

The role runs Friday and Saturday nights, 11pm–7am, with no remote work. Requires a Bachelor's in a related field or equivalent experience, plus completion of required training and background checks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field preferred, or relevant experience.
• Equivalent years of professional-level relevant experience acceptable in lieu of degree.
• One to two years crisis intervention experience preferred.
• Knowledge of domestic violence, sexual abuse, human trafficking, homelessness.
• Experience providing direct service advocacy or case management.
• Ability to work in a high stress, fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
• This position requires completion of the 40-Hour Office of Attorney General Sexual Assault Advocacy Training Program within six months.
• Pass all required criminal history background checks, pre-employment drug screen and TB test, if applicable.
• COVID vaccines are highly recommended.

Family Shelter Resident Advisor (PT/3rd Shift) - Grove Campus

SAFE Alliance seeks a Resident Advisor (RA) for the Residential & Support Services program in the Family &Community Shelter department. The primary responsibility of the RA staff is to provide immediate resident support to those we serve in the Family Shelter. The RA staff work closely with all other shelter employees to ensure the needs of the shelter residents are met and that the services provided promote the safety, healing, and empowerment of survivors residing in the shelter. The RA staff will assist in creating an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and client focused.

We are dedicated to ending violence through prevention, advocacy, and comprehensive services for individuals, families, and communities that have been affected by abuse.

During that time, SAFE reached more than 50,000 community members through over 2,000 trainings, provided more than 150,000 nights and days of shelter and housing support, and delivered over 53,000 crisis intervention and advocacy services through our 24/7 hotline, walk-in advocacy, and direct support programs.

We are looking for one person to work on a part-time, non-exempt basis for an hourly salary of $21.20 dependent upon experience and an additional hourly language differential of $1.73 for those who are English/Spanish bilingual. The work location will be based at Grove Blvd. Campus in the East Austin area. This position will include no travel in the community or between campuses with no ability for remote/hybrid work. The shift currently available is Friday and Saturday from 11pm to 7am.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field preferred., or sufficient relevant work or volunteer experience in lieu of degree.
• Equivalent years of professional-level relevant experience is acceptable in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
• One to two years crisis intervention experience preferred.
• Knowledge of issues and systems related to domestic violence, sexual abuse, human trafficking, child abuse and homelessness preferred.
• Experience providing direct service advocacy or case management services.
• Ability to work in a high stress, fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
• This position requires completion of the 40-Hour Office of Attorney General Sexual Assault Advocacy Training Program in person within six (6) months of starting employment, along with participating in annual continuing education throughout your employment.
• Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check if applicable), as well as a pre-employment drug screen and TB test, if applicable.
