Job summary

Addus HomeCare seeks a Family Service Specialist to support families in crisis through DCFS programs including Family Habilitation Services, Visitation and Housing. You will assist in-home, teach homemaking and parenting skills, and document progress for court-ordered programs.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and an associate degree or 2 years of child welfare experience, plus a valid driver's license; mileage reimbursement and flexible schedules are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree or 2 years of child welfare experience required.

Responsibilities

• Support families to prevent the permanent placement of children out of their home.
• Provide transportation for parent and/or children to and from locations for supervised visitation. Travel can be extensive.
• Work directly with families in the home, teaching and demonstrating homemaking skills, parenting skills, anger management, utilizing effective resources.
• Supervised visitation / Unsupervised visitation. Observe all interaction between parents and children during visits and redirect if needed.
• Prepare written reports and maintain accurate records; monthly progress reports with scheduled dates, goals, and outcomes.
• Report all child abuse and neglect; attend mandated trainings.
• For housing program, locate housing, jobs and other supports for living independently.
