Job summary

Addus Home Care seeks a Family Service Specialist to assist families in crisis through DCFS programs, including Family Habilitation Services, Visitation and Housing. Training is provided through the office and on-the-job.

Responsibilities include teaching homemaking and parenting skills, arranging supervised visits, and preparing detailed progress reports; travel to families' homes is sometimes extensive. Strong documentation and reporting are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree or 2 years of child welfare experience preferred.
• Must pass required background checks and have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Support families to prevent permanent placement of children out of their home.
• Provide transportation for supervised visitation; travel may be extensive.
• Teach homemaking and parenting skills; address anger management resources.
• Observe and supervise visits; redirect as needed.
• Prepare written reports and monthly progress summaries with goals.
• Report child abuse and neglect; attend mandated trainings.
• For housing program, locate housing and community supports.
