Addus Home Care strives to help older adults and people with disabilities live safe and healthy lives at home. We offer Family Service Specialists a salary of $15 - $17/HR.

In this role, you will assist families in crisis through DCFS programs including Family Habilitation Services, Visitation, and Housing. Family Service Specialists provide services that help families comply with court-ordered program participation and work through difficult situations. Training is provided both in the office and on-the-job.

FSS Duties

• Support families to prevent the permanent placement of children out of their home.
• Provide transportation for parents and/or children to and from locations for supervised visitation. Travel may be extensive.
• Work directly with families in the home, teaching homemaking skills, parenting skills, anger management, and utilizing effective resources.
• Supervised and unsupervised visitation: observe interactions during visits and intervene if necessary.
• Prepare written reports and maintain accurate records.
• Submit monthly client progress reports, including scheduled dates, service units, goals/issues addressed, appointment success or missed, progress reports, and future recommendations.
• Report all child abuse and neglect.
• Attend all mandated trainings.
• Assist families or emancipated foster children in housing programs to find housing, jobs, and community supports for independent living.

FSS Requirements & Competencies

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree or 2 years of child welfare experience required.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Experience in social work, childcare, or working with families preferred.
• Dependable automobile, valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance required.
• Must pass background checks.
