Job summary

Addus HomeCare in Edwardsville, IL seeks a Family Service Specialist to assist families in crisis through DCFS programs, provide home-based support, and help with housing, transportation and parenting skills. The role involves travel for visits and reporting on client progress.

Eligible candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, an associate degree or 2 years of child welfare experience, be at least 21, and possess a valid driver's license and auto insurance.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or 2 years of child welfare experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required.
• Pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist families to prevent permanent placement of children from home.
• Provide transportation for parent/children to supervised visits; travel may be extensive.
• Teach homemaking and parenting skills, anger management, and use of resources.
• Monitor and document supervised and unsupervised visits; redirect as needed.
• Prepare written reports and maintain records; submit monthly progress reports.
• Report all child abuse and neglect; attend trainings.
• Help housing program participants locate housing, jobs and supports.
