Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of New York is seeking a Family Worker to support family services and engagement under the guidance of the Family Service Coordinator. You will recruit, determine eligibility, enroll families, and manage child placement and census between FCC and DOE/DOHMH requirements.

The role involves coordinating with families on assessments, partnerships, and referrals, plus facilitating orientations and workshops to strengthen family engagement and service access.

Qualifications

• Minimum of an Associate Degree in Human Services or related field or CDAC credential.
• Bilingual abilities in Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin), French or other language preferred.
• Basic competency in Microsoft Office for Windows.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a caseload of ~15 FCC providers.
• Assists families with eligibility determination and enrollment; ensures documents are filed.
• Conducts recruitment activities to meet budgeted enrollment.
• Tracks children’s attendance and follows up with families on absences.
• Follows up on overdue medicals; ensures health/screening records are current per DOE/DOHMH.
• Collaborates with community agencies to identify resources for parents.
• Plans and facilitates monthly new parent orientation and parent meetings with FCC staff.
• Partners with families to complete Family Strengths Assessments and referrals.
• Follows up on family partnership goals and updates as needed.
• Facilitates workshops/activities for families and children.
• Ensures timely payment of weekly fees; collects receipts and follows up on overdue payments.
