POSITION SUMMARY

The Family Support Worker Supervisor (Family Visitation Program) works to make a meaningful difference in the lives ofchildren and families served. This position works closely with youth, family, foster parents, and community partners, providingadvocacy and support toward the ultimate goal of living safely and successfully in the community. The supervisor providesmentoring, case consultation, and support to employees within the assigned department or program.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies.
  • Travel as needed to support the provision of services to youth and families in compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete all required documentation and training in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and facilitate transportation for youth and families, including family visitation time, mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, independent living, crisis, and social services appointments.
  • Work with program staff to assure consistent progress and success on written plan goals.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with foster parents and families of origin.
  • Actively participate in the regular supervision process with direct reports.
  • Review, process, and assign all referrals for transportation and visitation for youth and families in the community as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school education.
  • Two years of experience working in direct service with youth and families.
  • Demonstrated sincere commitment to the service and advocacy for youth and families.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, automotive insurance, and a good driving record.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
OTHER SKILLS
  • Willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours in the service of foster caregivers, families of origin, and persons served.
  • Capacity to interpret and apply organizational policies and procedures.
  • Capacity to be flexible and responsive to youth served, foster caregivers, system partners, and internal customers.

  • Capacity to work effectively with and be respectful and sensitive to persons from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds.

DRIVING AND OTHER VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable personal transportation.
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability.
