Position Description
The Medical Director will join Oak Street Health at a critical time in the history of our company and of primary care. The opportunity for impact is large and growing, and Oak Street is leading the transition from fee-for-service to value-based care.

The Medical Director will be responsible for leading our clinicians in his/her neighborhood of clinics. The Medical Director will practice primary care in our clinics alongside their physician colleagues on a part-time basis to enable context for the practice and to remain close to our patients. On top of that limited clinical role, they will have mission-critical leadership responsibilities, including setting an example for thoughtful primary care, serving as a mentor, coach, and advisor to providers, and participating in organizational strategic initiatives.

Candidate Responsibilities
In addition to part-time clinical duties, a Medical Director has substantial administrative time for leadership and administrative duties:

1. Provider Management: Ensuring clinic and on-call schedules are staffed, coaching/interviewing/promoting Medical Director candidates, owning performance reviews, supporting new physician orientations, and serving as the local medical director.
2. Leadership & Coaching: Promoting high-quality care focused on minimizing hospital admissions, improving quality metrics, and enhancing patient experience. Sharing wisdom, coaching on tools, and ensuring physicians are engaged in quality care.
3. Support Organizational Strategy: Supporting continuous improvement, sharing best practices, and contributing to projects in care management, quality improvement, utilization management, clinical committees, network management, health plan management, documentation/risk adjustment, and clinical compliance & policy development. Candidates with specific experience in these fields will have greater input and growing roles.
4. Drive Culture: Setting an example in a work hard-play hard environment, balancing duty with fun in practicing medicine.

• MD or DO graduates, board-certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Fellowship training in Geriatrics or other professional degrees are welcome but not required.

• Extensive experience in clinical leadership, coaching physicians, and analyzing metrics to drive strategy.
