Geriatrics Opportunity: Morgantown, WV

Located 1 hour from Pittsburgh, the Medical Group Medicine department is seeking a Geriatrician qualified for an appointment at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank to join the Section of Geriatrics, Palliative Medicine, and Hospice.

Position Details

3. The Section's mission is to advance healthcare and quality of life for older adults and those with serious illnesses.
4. The geriatric team collaborates closely with primary care physicians and specialists including cardiology, oncology, neurology, and pulmonary medicine.
5. Faculty provide specialized geriatric consultations for frail, older adults with complex, life-threatening, or chronic conditions such as dementia and delirium.
6. The Palliative Medicine and Hospice team offers patient- and family-centered care focused on quality of life for patients with life-limiting illnesses, emphasizing anticipation, prevention, and treatment of suffering.
7. Services include inpatient, outpatient, and care in local nursing homes.
8. The successful candidate will participate in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, in addition to providing excellent patient care.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidates should have completed residency in internal medicine or family medicine and fellowship in geriatric medicine and/or palliative care and hospice by the time of appointment. For the Assistant Professor rank, candidates must be board eligible in geriatric medicine and/or palliative care and hospice. For the Associate Professor rank, candidates must be board certified in these specialties and demonstrate an outstanding record in teaching, research, and service.
